Management in the Digital Age

What is the difference between IoT, IIoT and cyber-physical systems? What do different types of data-based business models look like? How can we describe the concept of open innovation and what does the term e-participation stand for? What types of information security concepts exist in a digital space?
We can finally provide you with answers to these and many more exciting questions!

Our new course: "Management in the Digital Age"

Since the beginning of the summer semester of 2021, the Chair of Business Informatics, Processes and Systems at the University of Potsdam is offering a new course for Business Administration and Business Informatics students called "Management in the Digital Age". Students from other study programmes that are interested in learning about the topic are also invited to enroll via Studium+. The course is taught fully in English by Prof. Dr. Norbert Gronau (LSWI) and Prof. Dr. Isabella Proeller (PUMA) and will introduce students to the principles of management in the digital age. The aim is to break down the existing management doctrine and to add the three aspects of sustainability (social issues, ecology and economy).

Diverse formats and intriguing content

The content was created by the Chair of Business Informatics, Processes and Systems and the Chair of Public and Nonprofit Management of the University of Potsdam. Being part of the EDUC+M project, which aims to set up a study program that can be offered across European borders thanks to digital formats, five other European partner universities from France, Hungary, Italy and the Czech Republic were also involved in the content creation. The partners are supposed to learn from one another and add innovative aspects to the program in terms of content and methodology.

Through short podcasts which are intended to provide an overview of the content, small quiz sessions on the Hörsaal-App developed by the chair of Business Informatics and remote energizers that can help students to loosen up and keep their focus during the lectures, the virtual knowledge transfer is kept diversified and innovative. While the lectures create a foundation to build upon, students work on application-oriented tasks related to concrete case studies in small groups to strengthen their understanding of the matter.

An ideal preparation for future practice

After completing the course students will be familiar with the concepts of an organization, its management and the challenges that arise in the context of the digital transformation and are able to evaluate and critically discuss current developments and make concrete recommendations for action.
